Mead, Honey Wine, Drink of the Gods
So. This is the part of the movie where we dance. Or not. This is the part of the webpage were I've put the information I've been collecting relating to brewing (specifically to mead, although other stuff will be listed here when I find it too). I'm hoping to get a fairly extensive list of things in this section. If you don't know what mead is then, there's alot of good resources on the internet you can check out under the links section. If you're lazy like me and you'd rather just know, here's my basic explanation. Mead is the result of fermenting honey. Just as wine is the result of fermenting grapes, and beer is the result of fermenting... well, whatever it is they ferment.
It's been around since people first started collecting honey (a while). It's the stuff that beowulf, shakespeare, chaucer, and the vikings drank after they did their pillaging and what have you. Sometimes called honey wine, it's a very interesting combination of flavors, usually a little more sweet given the honey, and vastly different from one batch to the next. One can add things ranging from chili peppers, to maple syrup, to plain old fruit like bananas to a batch of mead and add complexity to the drink.
Whatever your interest, whatever your flavor, mead is an enjoyable drink. Wassail.
